Regina Appleby Selected as a Campus Election Engagement Project Fellow

STORM LAKE, IA (10/17/2018) (readMedia)-- Regina Appleby, a sophomore at Buena Vista University (BVU), was selected as a 2018 Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) Fellow through Iowa Campus Compact. Appleby has received a $1,000 stipend during for her efforts this semester, as well as a generous amount of leadership development and experience.
CEEP Fellows work to encourage their peers to register to vote and become familiar with voting rules at various universities across the country. They distribute nonpartisan candidate guides and other educational materials on campuses, as well as organize and execute Get Out The Vote events. It is also the duty of CEEP Fellows to collaborate with student organizations, campus administrators, and faculty to organize voter engagement efforts throughout their campus. Dr. Ashley Farmer-Hanson, interim vice president of student affairs and dean of students at BVU, says, "I'm excited to have a student leading the way for voter engagement and to have external support from state and national organizations."
CEEP is a nonpartisan project that assists the nation in encouraging students to register to vote, educate themselves on current and upcoming elections, volunteer in campaigns, and show up at the polls to vote. They partner with Iowa Campus Compact to educate university administrators, staff, faculty, and students to actively engage in America's democracy. In the past, they have supported around 300 campus in their efforts.
