AIKEN, SC (08/13/2018) Registration is now open for the University of South Carolina Aiken's annual Run for the Roses 5K scheduled for Sept. 28, at 6 p.m., on Newberry Street, downtown Aiken.

The university's 5K benefits both the Children's Hospital of Georgia in Augusta as well the Arthritis Foundation's juvenile arthritis research, programs, and education.

"This run is a fundraiser to help those who suffer from arthritis and to continue arthritis research," said Daneshka M. Padro Perez, the student coordinator of community service for USC Aiken.

"This event is important because it makes the community more aware of arthritis and developing research."

The event is sponsored in part by USC Aiken's chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. Arthritis programming is the signature philanthropic effort for the national women's fraternity, which has an active chapter at USC Aiken.
