Renowned Novelist and Essayist John Domini to Visit Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (01/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Novelist, poet and non-fiction writer John Domini will visit Flagler College on Thursday, Feb. 2 as part of the College's "Ideas and Images" series. He will read from his latest novel, "A Tomb on the Periphery," as well as from a non-fiction selection detailing his father's experience in World War II and the changes now taking place across Southern Italy. He'll also discuss the postmodern novel and its engagement with contemporary society. The reading and book-signing will take place at the Flagler College Auditorium, 14 Granada Street, at 7 p.m.

Domini has published fiction and non-fiction in Paris Review, Ploughshares, GQ, The New York Times and other journals. He has published poetry in Zone 3, Meridian and elsewhere, and he has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ingram-Merrill Foundation. The New York Times praised his work as "dreamlike... grabs hold of both reader and character," and Alan Cheuse, of NPR's "All Things Considered," described it as "witty and biting." He is a lecturer in English and creative writing at Iowa State University, and he lives in Des Moines, Iowa.

"Ideas and Images: Scholars and Artists in Residence" is a new program at Flagler College.
