ALBANY, NY (07/02/2007)(readMedia)-- In the wake of recent published reports indicating that Governor Eliot Spitzer utilized taxpayer funded state vehicles to attend fundraisers and political events, Republican State Committee today requested Governor Spitzer’s travel records under the state Freedom of Information Law.

All records provided will be thoroughly reviewed and submitted to the appropriate authorities to determine if there was any misuse of taxpayer funded state resources for political purposes.

Governor Spitzer has presided over one of the most highly partisan, political administrations in recent memory, and these newspaper accounts justify a more detailed review of whether his administration has been blurring the line between taxpayer funded government duties and partisan political activities.

Sadly, The hard working people of New York State are the real victims of Governor Spitzer’s obsession with politics and the resulting lack of real results.

Information has been requested for the following dates in 2007: January 18, March 8, April 10, April 12, April 25, April 27, May 1, May 7, June 7, June 12, June 14, June 26, June 27, June 28.
