Retail Council of New York State Partners with GHI to Offer Health Insurance to Members

ALBANY, NY (06/17/2008)(readMedia)-- The Retail Council of New York State announced today that it has launched a partnership with Group Health Incorporated (GHI) to assist its members with their health insurance needs.

"Finding affordable health insurance is a big concern for business owners," said Retail Council President and Chief Executive Officer James R. Sherin. "We believe GHI is a good fit for our diverse membership base because they offer plans at different price points, an extensive provider network and a solid reputation of delivering top-notch service."

The voice of the retail industry in New York state, the Retail Council is a full-service membership-based association that represents 5,000 stores of all size and variety, and affiliated businesses.

GHI, a statewide health insurer serving New Yorkers since 1937, and its wholly owned subsidiary, GHI HMO, provide health care coverage and administrative services to more than 2.6 million people. GHI offers customers a variety of PPO, EPO and HMO programs, as well as prescription drug, dental and vision plans.

"GHI is excited to work with the Retail Council of New York State to offer its members strong value at affordable rates. With statewide access and family friendly benefits such as no copay for kids and $0 copay for generic drugs I am confident the Retail Council's members will appreciate the value offered by GHI," said Chet Schneider, vice president of sales at GHI.

"Since health care costs continue to escalate, our goal is to connect members with reputable carriers, like GHI, where they'll have many options to select from regardless of the size of their business," said Mr. Sherin.
