CANTON, NY (04/07/2014)(readMedia)-- Keeley Rice (Potsdam, NY) of the women's lacrosse team and Jesse Barton (Belle Glade, FL) of the baseball team have been named this week's Roos of the Week.

Rice had an impressive week posting three goals and three assists as the Roos cruised to a 17-2 victory against Green Mountain College on Wednesday. SUNY Canton held the Eagles without a goal for the final 45:02 of the contest. Rice had a hand in three of the first five Roo scores en route to the lopsided win.

The women's lacrosse team has a busy upcoming week with three contests. They travel up Route 11 on Tuesday for a 4 PM contest with Clarkson University. The Roos host Colby Sawyer College and Elmira College on Saturday and Sunday. Games are scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.

Barton hit .444 in a 2-2 week for the baseball team including a .571 average on Sunday in a doubleheader against St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). He had 2 RBIs and scored a run in a 4-3 win for the Roos against the Bears. The freshman laced a double into the gap in left center with two outs in the top of the seventh to provide a crucial insurance run.

The baseball team is tentatively scheduled to play at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday before hosting D'Youville College in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Watertown Fairgrounds.
