Richfield Native Josh Phenow Honored by MIAC as Offensive Player of the Week

SAINT PAUL, MN (10/17/2011)(readMedia)-- Bethel University sophomore Josh Phenow of Richfield, Minn., was named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Offensive Player of the Week for his role in the Royals football team's win over St. John's University on Saturday, October 10.

Phenow led Bethel's ground game, which racked up 283 yards on 51 attempts (5.5 average) with 130 yards on 27 carries, good for a 4.8 average. He had a long run of 16 yards, ran for six first downs and added a 32-yard reception to his big day. Phenow's first score came in the third quarter and put Bethel back in front, 20-14. He then added the victory-sealing insurance touchdown when he burst through the line for a four-yard score to put Bethel up 34-20 with just 1:34 left in the game. This season, Phenow ranks eighth in the league in rushing with 338 yards and seven scores on 66 carries with an outstanding 5.1 yards-per-carry average.
