Rider University's Dr. Maria Sanchez Named to Board of Prestigious Academic Journal

Sanchez will begin to serve on the Editorial and Advisory Review Board for Issues in Accounting Education in January.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (09/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Dr. Maria Sanchez of Jenkintown, Pa., professor of Accounting, has accepted an invitation to join the Editorial and Advisory Review Board for Issues in Accounting Education, beginning in January 2013. In the new role, Sanchez will edit and review about five to seven articles per year for the quarterly journal of the American Accounting Association.

According to incoming editor Dr. Lori Holder-Webb of Western New England University, Sanchez was selected because of her "intellectual talents" and "commitment to advancing accounting education."

"Dr. Sanchez's selection to the Editorial and Advisory Review Board of such a prestigious journal is a validation of her outstanding scholarly record. I congratulate her on such a significant accomplishment," said Dr. Steven Lorenzet, dean of the College of Business Administration. "This new role will afford her a new way to make valuable contributions to the field of Accounting Education. Having such outstanding teacher-scholars, like Dr. Sanchez, is part of the reason for the College of Business Administration and in this specific case, the Department of Accounting, has developed such a sterling reputation."

Sanchez has been a recipient of numerous research fellowships and awards. Her research is primarily in the areas of auditing, behavioral research and forensic accounting, and has appeared in the Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Review, Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Forensic Accounting and other respected journals. She frequently presents her research at meetings of the American Accounting Association.

At Rider, Sanchez teaches accounting theory and practice courses and undergraduate and graduate level auditing courses. She also serves as faculty adviser to the Accounting Society.
