Riverside native Molly McCloskey was named Lake Forest College Athlete of the Week

The senior outside hitter had a match-high 26 kills in a dramatic victory at Monmouth College

LAKE FOREST, IL (11/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Lake Forest College volleyball player Molly McCloskey (Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead Lake Forest to a pair of victories over the weekend as the team clinched a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament.

McClockey, a senior outside hitter, pounded out a match-high 26 kills in the Foresters' dramatic 16-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-20, 22-20 triumph at Monmouth College Friday night. Her kill total was also a career-high and just two shy of the program record. Kills by McCloskey prevented three of Monmouth's six match-point opportunities in the fifth set and she added 24 digs on the night.

Lake Forest clinched a berth in the four-team MWC Tournament by prevailing 25-8, 25-13, 25-16 at Knox College on Saturday. McCloskey led all players in the match with 15 kills and 14 digs and she added a pair of aces in the contest.

McCloskey leads the conference and ranks 16th in the country with 4.04 kills per set this season and her 360 kills on the year are the 10th-most in program history. She also ranks sixth in team annals with 1,242 career kills and eighth with 1,240 digs.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
