Rochester resident Jennifer Milton wins outstanding student achievement awards at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, CT (05/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Jennifer Milton, a senior at Connecticut College, was awarded the following awards:

• Mahan Music Prize, for the greatest achievement and talent in music offered by the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bryan F. Mahan of New London

• Sally Abrahms '75 Prize in Fiction, to a senior English major for outstanding achievement in fiction writing offered in honor of Sally Abrahms '75 by her family

• John Edwin Wells Memorial Prize, to a senior English major for work in the field of English distinguished for clarity of thought and judgment

• Hamilton M. Smyser Prize, for excellence in creative fiction given anonymously in honor of Hamilton M. Smyser, the late Professor Emeritus of English

Milton was presented with the awards at the annual Honors and Awards ceremony at Connecticut College on April 27.

Milton, a Rochester resident and 2007 graduate of Brighton High School, is the daughter of Barbara and Richard Milton of Rochester.

At the ceremony, Timo V. Ovaska, Hans and Ella McCollum '21 Vahlteich Professor of Chemistry, gave the keynote address. Dean of the College Community Armando Bengochea and Dean of the Faculty Roger Brooks also congratulated the students.
