"Rock for Remembrance" Concert at SUNY Cortland Canceled
CORTLAND, NY (02/03/2012)(readMedia)-- Due to the artist's illness, the Andy Grammer "Rock for Remembrance" concert planned for Saturday, Feb. 4, at SUNY Cortland has been canceled.
Cash refunds will be given starting on Monday to anyone who purchased a ticket.
To receive a refund, bring the tickets to Corey Union, Room 406 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, or from 8:30 am. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
The alternative rock concert was intended to raise funds for a new scholarship honoring the memory of Michael C. Holland, a longtime staff member who was beloved by students.
All proceeds from the event, presented by the College's Student Activities Board (SAB), were to go to an annual $5,000 scholarship in Holland's name.
The scholarship still will be created using stabilization funds from SUNY Cortland's Student Government Association (SGA) and other fundraising efforts.
Holland, the former executive assistant to the vice president for student affairs, served SUNY Cortland for more than 30 years. He died unexpectedly on Oct. 29 after traveling with students to help flood victims in Binghamton, N.Y.
