Rockford, MI. Native, Christopher Maloney Earns SCIAC All-Academic Honors

WHITTER, CA (06/11/2012)(readMedia)--  Whittier College senior water polo player, Christopher Maloney was one of 27 athletes recognized by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) for their success within the classroom.

The All-Academic Team is made up of student-athletes who have at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average at his/her current institution, must have completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution, and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility. In the case of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.

Maloney, who comes from Rockford, Michigan majored in Physics finished the 2011 season with 16 saves and four steals in a reserve role. His breakout year came in 2008 where he totaled 31 saves in a reserve role to go with two steals and two assists.

He graduated from Whittier College on May 11, 2012.
