Rolling Meadows' Cori Lin Wins Photo Contest

“Anna’s First Ganesh Festival” earned Cori Lin first-place honors in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Off-Campus Study Photo Contest in the "Stories" category.

APPLETON, WIS. (01/08/2013)(readMedia)-- Cori Lin, daughter of Dr. Charles and Donna Lin, Rolling Meadows, won first-place honors in the "Stories" category in the recent Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) 2012-2013 Off-Campus Study Photo Contest. A junior at Lawrence University majoring in anthropology, Lin is a 2010 graduate of William Fremd High School.

Lin's winning photo, "Anna's First Ganesh Festival," was selected from among 95 submissions by students participating in off-campus study programs. Lin took the photo in August, 2012 at the Ganesh Festival in Pune, India. The festival is the Hindu celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha, son of gods Shiva and Parvati. She received a first-place prize of $100.

The ACM photo contest began in 2008. Winners in four categories were chosen from among 95 submissions. All winning photos will be featured in a traveling exhibit hosted by ACM colleges, beginning March 16 at Beloit College and ending April 13 with the ACM Student Symposium on Off-Campus Study in Chicago.
