Rushville Native Recognized by Polish President

Maj. Eric Davis receives the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski during an award ceremony May 20 at the Marseilles Training Center in Marseilles.

MARSEILLES, IL (05/30/2012)(readMedia)-- Maj. Eric Davis, Rushville native, was recently recognized by the President of Poland for his meritorious service while serving in Afghanistan with Polish Land Forces. President Bronislaw Komorowski, the President of Poland, awarded Davis with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland at a ceremony May 20 at Marseilles Training Center in Marseilles.

Davis deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 with the Illinois Army National Guard's Bilateral Embedded Staff Team as part of the Polish Army's 17th Mechanized Infantry Brigade. While in Afghanistan, he was the deputy commander of the Polish Land Forces' Task Force Bravo stationed at Forward Operating Base Warrior in Southern Ghazni Province.

Davis also received of the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge due to his actions and performance during the deployment. Prior to returning home in October 2011, the Polish Minister of Defense awarded him the Polish Army Medal in the grade of silver.

Davis is the son of Eleanor Davis of Jacksonville, and Ed and Mary Davis of Rushville. He lives in Mount Pulaski with his wife Bonnie and children, Kyle, Joel, Lindsey, Joshua and Liam. Davis and his son Spc. Kyle Davis, serve with the Illinois Army National Guard's 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Urbana.
