WHITTER, CA (06/07/2012)(readMedia)--  Ryan Schwenn, a Scottsdale, AZ native capped off his final year of his college baseball career with the Whittier College Poets in impressive fashion.

Earning the title of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Pitcher of the Year and All-SCIAC 1st Team Honors proves he finished the season with his best statistics yet with a 2.24 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 104 innings pitched

This year, Schwenn threw a no hitter against the University of La Verne, whose team was ranked No. 25 in the country at the time. During this game, Schwenn went nine innings giving up one walk in route to the 4-0 victory. This feat marked the first time in Schwenn's career that he has ever thrown a no hitter landing his name into the Whittier College record books.

Ryan didn't stop there. He followed his spectacular no-hitter with a complete game against Whittier College's rival, Occidental College. Giving up one run on five hits to go with eight strikeouts earned him his seventh win of the season putting him atop the SCIAC rankings in wins by himself.

During that month Ryan earned himself SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors twice due to these two pitching performances and finished the year off going 9-4 winning seven of his last eight games.

He was also recently named to D3baseball.com All-West Regional Team.

Ryan Schwenn graduated from Whittier College on May 11, 2012 with Outstanding Senior Athlete Honors.
