SAANYS Awards Scholarships to Local High School Students

ALBANY, NY (06/24/2009)(readMedia)-- Jill Pellis, Region 12 board member of the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS), proudly announced the names of the recipients of the scholarship awards for Region 12. Region 12 includes the western New York counties of Orleans, Genesee, Niagara, Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany. Pellis stated that recipients are chosen by high school principals and the awards are based on academics, leadership, character, community service, and need.

This year's recipients are: Julie Latta from Newfane High School, $500, Principal Steven Burley; Sarah O'Brocta from Tonawanda High School, $500, Principal Kevin Kazmarzack; and Deborah Harding from Medina High School, $250, Principal Wes Pickreign.

SAANYS represents nearly 7,000 school administrators, supervisors, and coordinators. As a professional association, SAANYS is committed to providing direction, service, and support to its members in their efforts to improve the quality of education and leadership in New York State schools. SAANYS is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
