SAFE Act not making Queens any safer for residents

ALBANY, NY (02/12/2014)(readMedia)-- The recent crime wave in Queens is more proof that recently enacted gun control laws do not make society safer. The Astoria Post reports a jump in the number of burglaries, felony assaults and robberies reported over the past month, coinciding with the one-year anniversary of the so-called SAFE Act.

"This is more proof that citizen disarmament laws like the SAFE Act do not do what advocates say they do," said NYSRPA President Tom King. "All that has been accomplished is the creation of an environment where ordinary, decent citizens can be victimized by violent thugs with little fear of encountering effective resistance."
