SMC students inducted into Sigma Delta Pi's Honorary Society of the Spanish Language

On October 10, 2019, Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Sigma Delta Pi's Honorary Society of the Spanish Language/Sociedad Honoraria de la Lengua Espanola

Sigma Delta Pi's Honorary Society of the Spanish Language/Sociedad Honoraria de la Lengua Espanola recognizes students for their academic achievements in the study of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, as well as individuals whose professional activities notably reflect the goals and ideals of this honorary society.

The Sociedad Honoraria de la Lengua Espanola encourages students to acquire a greater interest in and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture, build and advocate friendship and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech, and serve its membership in ways that will contribute to the attainment of the goals and ideals of the society.

To be inducted into the society, participants must have completed at least one semester of Spanish with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all Spanish courses completed. The candidate must also rank in the upper 35% of his/her class or, in the cases where class rank is not tracked, have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average.
