CANTON, NY (04/22/2013)(readMedia)-- Registration is now open for SUNY Canton's popular Summer Session, which begins June 3.
More than 100 online courses and several on-campus classes will be offered throughout three sessions: June 3 to July 28, June 3 to July 7 and July 8 to Aug. 11. Courses are accessible via computer anywhere in the world, offering local students and distance-learners the flexibility of earning college credit via the Internet.
"Our online courses offer the same high-quality education that SUNY Canton is known for, but in a flexible learning environment," said SUNY Canton's Director of Information Services and OnLine Learning Kyle Brown. "Students from SUNY Canton and across the country continue to utilize our Summer Session course offerings year after year."
Although courses are available in a number of disciplines, General Education classes have traditionally been in the highest demand over the past several years, especially from students at other colleges and universities.
"Due to the fact that these courses are most easily transferable to a student's home institution, we anticipate that they will fill up quickly," Brown added.
Because taking online courses can help satisfy a number of degree requirements at other SUNY schools, they help support SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher's commitment to ensuring student success by allowing a seamless transfer of credits across campuses.
Summer courses also help students get ahead and graduate early, or stay on track and graduate on time, which also supports SUNY's strategic plan.
