SUNY Canton Welcomes Diversity Expert

CANTON, NY (10/10/2016)(readMedia)-- The president and a founder of the Social Justice Training Institute will visit SUNY Canton to discuss the challenges and opportunities for higher education related to diversity and inclusion.

The Rev. Jamie Washington, Ph.D., will speak at 6 p.m., Oct. 13, in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center's Kingston Theater. The event is free and open to the public.

"Dr. Washington is a dynamic speaker and renowned expert in his field. He has worked with more than 300 clients during his 30-year career, and we are pleased to welcome him to SUNY Canton," said Co-Chief Diversity Officer Lashawanda Ingram.

Washington is also the president of the Washington Consulting Group, a multicultural organizational development firm based in Baltimore founded in 1992. The firm provides workshops, coaching, consulting and keynote talks on a variety of topics including organizational and culture change management, effective leadership and team building, diversity and inclusion development, conflict resolution, diversity strategic planning, and more.

Washington is a visiting assistant professor of religion and social ethics at Winston Salem State University.
