SUNY Delhi Celebrates "Wines Across America" Fundraiser
DELHI, NY (03/23/2011)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi presents "Wines Across America," a festive evening featuring wines selected by renowned sommelier and Delhi alumnus Kevin Zraly and food prepared by Delhi's award-winning hospitality students, chef instructors and members of the United States Army Culinary Arts Team Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Hall Hospitality Center.
The annual dinner, which supports the Kevin Zraly Scholarship Endowment, will feature four gourmet courses. They include:
• First Course - Atlantic seafood terrine with celeriac and truffle emulsion
• Second Course - Asparagus and mushroom salad
• Third Course - Pan roasted lamb loin with braised lamb and spinach compression, potato and feta gratin and caponata
• Fourth Course - Chocolate cream filled with passion fruit curd, kona coffee sherbet, and pistachio financier
Wine pairings for the dinner include:
• Reception - Chateau Frank Brut 2004
• Appetizer - Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc 2008
• Main Course - King Estates Pinot Noir 2008
• Dessert - Pacific Rim Framboise
Founded in 1999, the Kevin Zraly Scholarship Endowment has grown to become one of the largest sources of annual scholarships for hospitality management students at SUNY Delhi. It is named in honor of Kevin Zraly, a 1970 Delhi graduate who has gone on to become one of the world's leading wine authorities.
Kevin Zraly was wine director at Windows on the World. He authored Windows on the World Complete Wine Course book, which has sold over three million copies, Ultimate Wine Companion, Kevin Zraly's American Wine Guide, and Kevin Zraly's Wine Journal. He is founder and instructor of the Windows on the World Wine School. With almost 20,000 graduates, it was named "The Best Wine School" in New York City by New York Magazine. Zraly's contributions to the industry have earned him a number of prestigious honors. Most notable are: James Beard Award for Wine and Spirits Professional of the Year; 2009 recipient of Santé's Wine Professional of the Year Award; and recipient of the European Wine Council Lifetime Achievement Award. Zraly has been featured in The New York Times, People Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, GQ Magazine, and Newsweek and has appeared on the major television networks including "The Early Show" on CBS and "Live! with Regis and Kelly" on ABC.
