SUNY Delhi Criminal Justice Hosts Active Shooter Training

DELHI, NY (11/10/2010)(readMedia)-- The SUNY Delhi Criminal Justice program will host an active shooter training drill on Wednesday, November 17, beginning at 9:45 a.m. in Thurston Hall.

The mock scenario will have Delhi's Criminal Justice majors Criminal Justice Club members serve as victims and aggressors while law enforcement officers from various jurisdictions play out their roles as though a real emergency were occurring on campus. Law enforcement officers from Delhi University Police, Village of Delhi Police, Delaware County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police will all take part.

Active shooter training drills are designed to improve campus- and county-wide safety preparedness while providing students with an interest in criminal justice real-life exposure to the field. This is the first time that SUNY Delhi has hosted this type of training.

SUNY Delhi's Criminal Justice program prepares students to pursue further study in criminal justice or related disciplines. Graduates may seek entry-level employment in the criminal justice field, courts and corrections. Students may also enroll in the program with the intention of transferring to a four-year college offering majors in criminal justice, criminology, sociology, public administration or political science.
