SUNY Delhi Culinary Arts Major Competes for 2015 National "Student Chef of the Year"

DELHI, NY (02/18/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi culinary arts major Kathryn Eurich of Warwick, N.Y., will compete for the 2015 American Culinary Arts Federation (ACF) national "Student Chef of the Year" title. The competition will take place at the ACF National Convention in Orlando, Fla., July 30–August 3. The "Student Chef of the Year" recognizes an up-and-coming student who possesses a high degree of professionalism, culinary skill and passion for the culinary arts.

Eurich earned her trip to the national competition by winning the 2015 ACF Northeast Regional "Student Chef of the Year," held at Erie Community College, Williamsville, N.Y. January 17–18.

Eurich is currently in her third year at Delhi and serves as a student assistant for a culinary competition class. She is an active member of the student culinary club and has assisted the college's hot food team during competitions. Eurich received a gold and a bronze medal in 2014 at ACF-sanctioned competitions. Her goal following graduation is to move to New York City and someday own her own restaurant.

SUNY Delhi's culinary arts program has long been recognized as one of the best in the country. The program offers students a firm foundation from which to start their careers as culinary professionals. Signatures by Candlelight, a full service fine dining restaurant, is open to the public and operated by SUNY Delhi students. In addition to the core classes, there are numerous culinary electives offered, such as advanced meat cutting, culinary competition, advanced pastries and confections, and culinary ice sculpting.
