DELHI, NY (04/16/2011)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi will dedicate The Dennis Callas Center for Teaching and Learning on Tuesday, April 19 at 3 p.m. on the third floor of Bush Hall. The Center is named for Dr. Callas who served as provost, academic leader and faculty member at SUNY Delhi from 1973 until his retirement in 2009.
"Dr. Callas fully embraced technology during his tenure at SUNY Delhi," said SUNY Delhi President Candace S. Vancko. "A growing number of Delhi faculty use state-of-the-art technology in their instruction today as a result of his leadership. We are recognizing Dr. Callas' commitment to advancing teaching and learning with this center."
Speakers at the dedication event include SUNY Delhi President Candace S. Vankco, Provost John Nader, and Dr. Mary Pat Lewis, department chair of nursing and allied health. Dr. Callas will be invited to offer his remarks. A reception will follow.
The Dennis Callas Center for Teaching and Learning was established to provide Delhi faculty with the tools needed to enhance the use of instructional technology in both online and traditional classes.
The center integrates a number of state-of-the-art features in one location: Voiceover Internet Protocol (VoIP) conference calling, a 65" high definition monitor for presentations, and laptop computers.
Delhi faculty will benefit from direct access to Delhi Online Education and the college's technology help desk. The space is also suitable for small meetings, technology training and webinars.
