SUNY Delhi Forum Focuses on Gun Violence

Program Part of College's Constitution Day Celebration

DELHI, NY (09/03/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi will host a campus open forum "Gun Violence: A Public Health Approach" Thursday, September 17, 6:30 p.m. in The Okun Theatre in the Farrell Student and Community Center.

This open forum explores the U.S. Constitution by focusing on the Second Amendment and gun rights as a public health issue. SUNY Delhi Criminal Justice Professors Paul Rogan and David Legere, who are both lawyers, will provide a mock debate to discuss the scope of the state's duty and constitutional authority to regulate gun ownership.

The program is free and open to the public and part of the college's 12th Annual Constitution Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. Voter registration information and applications will be available at the event.
