SUNY Delhi Golf Course Management Student Awarded Coveted USGA Internship

DELHI, NY (04/26/2011)(readMedia)-- Timothy Williams, Jr. of North Syracuse, a senior in the Golf Course Superintendent program at SUNY Delhi, is one of 13 students in the nation selected for a United States Golf Association (USGA) traveling internship.
"This marks the third year in a row a Delhi student has been selected for this highly competitive internship," said Dr. Ben McGraw, professor of turfgrass science. "This achievement demonstrates that Delhi provides golf and turf majors with an outstanding educational experience."
Williams's internship will feature travel with the USGA Green Section, the association's agronomic advisory service, to multiple golf courses throughout the Northeast to observe how official site visits are conducted.
Williams has completed previous internships at some of the nation's most prestigious golf courses, including Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, The Stanwich Club in Greenwich, Conn., and Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. Williams is currently completing his final internship at Congressional where he is involved in preparations for the 2011 U.S. Open Championship.
SUNY Delhi is recognized as one of the leading golf/turf education programs in the nation.
