DELHI, NY (07/17/2010)(readMedia)-- Every 2010 graduate of SUNY Delhi's Computer Aided Drafting and Design program achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the Certified Drafter National Exam through the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA).
All 15 graduates who took the exam passed and earned the distinction of ADDA Certified Drafters. The examination is administered each year at SUNY Delhi through the college's student ADDA chapter, giving Delhi graduates the opportunity to take the exam without traveling.
"We know it's a huge advantage for our graduates to become certified," said Distinguished Professor Joe Greenfield. "It gives them an advantage when looking for a job since they can prove to prospective employers they meet the specific criteria required by the ADDA."
ADDA developed the examination to elevate an individual's comprehension of the professional standards related to design drafting and the graphics profession. Certification enables drafters to demonstrate professional capabilities and helps employers in identifying quality employees.
The ADDA Drafter Certification Examination is open to all individuals, regardless of experience and formal education. Membership in the ADDA is not required for an individual to take the test or become certified.
SUNY Delhi's Computer Aided Drafting and Design program prepares graduates for employment as a designer/drafter or serves as a stepping stone to other technical and managerial positions. Graduates may also transfer to a four-year bachelor's degree program in one of the engineering technologies or to a bachelor's degree program in industrial or technical education in preparation for a career as a technical teacher in public schools.
