SUNY Delhi Graduates Rise above Rest

DELHI, NY (08/13/2016)(readMedia)-- For Jesse Jacob, a SUNY Delhi Construction Management graduate and a Walton native, she rises above her peers nationwide.

As part of the 2015 SUNY Delhi class, Jacob was among 94% who were either employed or continuing their educations following graduation, an average that far surpasses the national average.

"SUNY Delhi provides practical learning in ways that other college and universities do not," said Jacob, who is currently working as a Project Engineer in California for Barnard Construction Company Inc. "I've asked some of my colleagues who also graduated with Construction Management degrees what their programs were like, and they wished they had an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom in real life situations. That's what gives Delhi graduates their edge."

According to a new report from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), 82 percent of the nation's Class of 2015 was either working (64 percent) or going back to school (18 percent). In comparison, 82 percent of SUNY Delhi's 2015 graduates were employed and 12 percent continued their educations.

Jacob enjoys a starting salary around $80,000, well above the national average for first-hires. The NACE report sets the national average starting salary at $50,219. Of 2015 Delhi's bachelor's degree graduates, 44 percent earned an average salary of $35,000 and 20 percent earned an average salary of $60,000 or higher.

Jacob says she chose Delhi's Construction Management program because of its great track record-a 100 percent job placement since the program's inception. Delhi offers a number of successful, specialized baccalaureate degrees-Hospitality Management, Business and Professional Golf Management, Golf Course Management, Information Technology Management, Architectural Design and Building, Business and Technology Management, Criminal Justice, Mechatronics Technology, and Recreation and Sports Facility Management. These baccalaureate degrees build on the college's unique academic strengths at the associate's degree level.

"Delhi's Construction Management program, like its other bachelor's programs, ensure you are learning everything you need to know before entering your field," said Jacob. "I'm proof of that!"
