SUNY Delhi Graduates Score above National Average on Veterinary Technician Exam

DELHI, NY (10/11/2014)(readMedia)-- Graduates of SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology program scored above the national average on the recent Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).

Delhi graduates who took the exam for the first time during July and August 2014 achieved an 86 percent pass rate, compared to the 73 percent national average for first-time takers.

"This reaffirms SUNY Delhi's stature as one of the nation's very best Veterinary Technology programs," said SUNY Delhi Provost John Nader. "The scores are an indication of our faculty's outstanding ability to prepare students for successful careers in veterinary medicine."

The Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. The VTNE is used to evaluate veterinary technicians' competency to practice and to be credentialed. Most states and provinces require a passing score on the VTNE as one criterion for credentialing.

Established in 1961, SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology Program (A.A.S.) is the oldest of its type in the United States. Since its inception, it has developed into a dynamic, nationally recognized program. Experiential instruction prepares Delhi graduates for a career in the biomedical and veterinary technology fields. Internship opportunities with NASA, Rockefeller University, the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell and private firms, have also helped distinguish Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology degree as one of the nation's preeminent programs.

SUNY Delhi's Veterinary Science Technology (A.A.S.) program has been fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) since 1975.
