"I am thrilled that SUNY Delhi is a Great College to Work For," said President Candace S. Vancko.

DELHI, NY (07/20/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The Chronicle's Great Colleges to Work For survey is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. It celebrates colleges that receive top ratings from employees on workforce practices and policies. SUNY Delhi is among 86 institutions honored by The Chronicle for 2015 and is one of only five colleges in New York State named this year.

"I am thrilled that SUNY Delhi is a Great College to Work For," said President Candace S. Vancko. "We know that faculty and staff value the community we have created, working together to put students first. I am very proud of all that they do to make SUNY Delhi a wonderful place to work and learn."

SUNY Delhi earned recognition in three categories, supervisor/department chair relationship, work/life balance, and collaborative governance, competing with other four-year colleges with enrollments of up to 9,999 students. This is the third year SUNY Delhi has been named a Great College to Work For.

Bonnie G. Martin, Vice President for Operations, noted "Our enrollment has grown, which placed us in a more competitive category. I am especially pleased that we stand out among the many colleges that are much larger than SUNY Delhi."

SUNY Delhi is a college on the rise. This year Delhi earned the Carnegie Foundation Community Service Classification for the extensive volunteer work done by students, faculty and staff through the O'Connor Center for Community Engagement. SUNY Delhi is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's premier colleges for online baccalaureate education. Delhi has expanded its online offerings with its first graduate program, the M.S. in Nursing Education, and a baccalaureate degree program in Criminal Justice, the first degree of its type to be introduced within SUNY.

Employee feedback was the primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition as one of The Great Colleges to Work For. SUNY Delhi faculty, staff and their families enjoy a variety of perks in addition to their comprehensive medical and retirement benefits. "These special perks are what make working at Delhi distinctive. They enhance the feeling of community and make the college much more than just a place to work," said Director of Employee Relations Lynn Berger.

"Many of these benefits are also open to the community such as Signatures, an on-campus gourmet restaurant operated by Delhi culinary students, a golf course, pool, tennis courts, an outdoor education center and the college's 3accredited child care center."

To administer the survey and analyze the results, The Chronicle worked with ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm that has conducted numerous "Best Places to Work" programs, surveying hundreds of thousands of employees nationwide.
