SUNY Delhi Named a "2010 Great College to Work For"

DELHI, NY (07/29/2010)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Delhi is among 97 institutions honored by The Chronicle for specific best practices and policies. SUNY Delhi earned recognition in three categories for four-year colleges with enrollments of up to 2,999 students-Professional/Career Development Programs, Compensation and Benefits, and Respect and Appreciation. This is the second consecutive year that Delhi has been named a Great College to Work For.

"I am very proud that SUNY Delhi is recognized again as a Great College to Work For," said President Candace Vancko. "We have outstanding faculty and staff who value the educational environment we have created at SUNY Delhi."

"Our faculty and staff love their jobs and see SUNY Delhi as the place where they want to spend their careers," added Bonnie G. Martin, Director of Administrative Services. "Of all the categories in which we could have been recognized, I am especially pleased that they rate respect and appreciation high on their list."

In announcing 2010's Great Colleges to Work For," the editors of The Chronicle noted some of the value-added benefits that are available to the campus community at SUNY Delhi, including gourmet meals, available at discounted prices and prepared by the college's award winning culinary arts program, as well as specialized care from its nationally recognized veterinary science technology department.

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback. The results are based on a survey of more than 42,000 employees at 277 colleges and universities.

To administer the survey and analyze the results, The Chronicle worked with ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm that has conducted numerous "Best Places to Work" programs, surveying hundreds of thousands of employees nationwide.

"Great Colleges to Work For" is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. For more information and to view all the results of the survey, visit The Chronicle's web site at http://chronicle.com/academicworkplace.
