SUNY Delhi Ranked on U.S. News Best Colleges List for Ninth Year

DELHI, NY (09/09/2014)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi has been recognized as a "Best Regional College" for the ninth year in the 2014 edition of "Best Colleges" by U.S. News Media Group. The exclusive rankings, which include more than 1,600 schools nationwide, are now available online at http://www.usnews.com/colleges.

"U.S. News has consistently recognized SUNY Delhi as a best baccalaureate college for nearly a decade," said SUNY Delhi President Candace S. Vancko. "It is one of the many accolades for academic excellence the college has earned, including being ranked number one in the nation for offering baccalaureate programs online."

"Again this year, we are proud to see so many of our SUNY campuses recognized as being among the best nationally by U.S. News & World Report," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. "In every community across New York State, SUNY colleges and universities like SUNY Delhi offer students top quality degree programs and applied learning opportunities that prepare them for success in today's 21st-century global economy. Congratulations to each of the SUNY campuses making the list for 2015."

SUNY Delhi offers specialized baccalaureate degrees in areas that include Hospitality Management, Business and Professional Golf Management, Golf Course Management, Information Technology Management, Architectural Design and Building, Construction Management, Business and Technology Management and Criminal Justice. These baccalaureate degrees build on the college's unique academic strengths at the associate degree level.

Online enrollment represent the fastest growing segment of Delhi's student population. Delhi most recently launched its first graduate degree, a Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN). The MSN brings affordable, accessible, high-quality graduate education to nurses within the State University system, New York State and throughout the nation. The college's RN to BSN program, which enrolls about 750 students annually, helped name SUNY Delhi as the number one online bachelor's degree program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report earlier this year. Also this year debuted Delhi's Criminal Justice program, which was the first online Criminal Justice Bachelor of Science degree to be introduced within the State University of New York.

The U.S. News rankings measure academic quality by examining seven broad indicator areas: peer assessment; retention and graduation of students; faculty resources; student selectivity; financial resources; and alumni giving. Indicators include both "input measures," which reflect the quality of students, faculty and other resources used in education, and "outcome measures," such as graduation and freshman retention rates, which signal how well the institution educates its student body.
