SUNY Delhi Welcomes Alumni Back to Campus in June

DELHI, NY (06/01/2016)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi welcomes alumni of all ages back to campus from Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 5 to see old friends, meet new ones, and perhaps enjoy a round of golf during the annual Alumni Weekend. The Aloha-themed reunion is jam-packed with activities for all ages, including an authentic, professional luau that will top off the popular events alumni look forward to each year.

The weekend starts on Friday with opportunities for guided tours, a tiki bar, and a welcome reception with college faculty and staff. As part of the reception, alumni will celebrate President Candace S. Vancko's dedicated service to SUNY Delhi and recognize the golden anniversary of the Class of 1961 and other alumni celebrating milestone anniversaries. Alumni can then catch up around a campfire outside Catskill Hall on Friday night.

Saturday morning will feature the 21st Annual Delhi Covered Bridge 5K Run and Walk to benefit Delaware County senior citizens and scholarships for local athletes. The college will also welcome back the brothers and sisters of Kappa Sigma Epsilon, Psi Delta Omega, and Alpha Beta Chi for their annual reunions and meetings throughout the morning.

The day continues with the "Aloha Kids!" activities, including family-friendly fun like coloring tiki masks, a treasure hunt, the Binghamton Ross Park ZooMobile, and other games and activities. Alumni will then be able to choose from a tailgate lunch during Bronco volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse games, a wine tasting hosted by Pail Shop Vineyards of Fly Creek, an estate planning seminar or a presentation on student activism in the 1960s and '70s, by Dr. Terry Hamblin.

The Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday will recognize James McCloe '71 for Wrestling, Michael Cebula '05 for Cross Country and Track and Field, and Gary Cole, Athletic Director and Coach from 1980 to 2006. The day will culminate with Aloha Delhi!, a professional Polynesian luau with authentic dancers, exciting fire knife performances and audience participation.

The scenic College Golf Course at Delhi will be open all weekend with special alumni rates and lunch menus. SUNY Delhi alumni will also receive a 20 percent discount at the Barnes & Noble Campus Store throughout the weekend. Alumni can always enjoy a hike at the college's Outdoor Education Center or antique hunting or shopping in the Village of Delhi.
