OSWEGO, NY (12/09/2011)(readMedia)-- Ken Walker of Moorestown, a 1980 graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego, was honored recently for his achievements in men's lacrosse.
Walker was inducted into the Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony in the Hewitt Union ballroom on the SUNY Oswego campus.
Walker played lacrosse from 1977 to 1980, becoming the all-time points leader in Oswego lacrosse history with 205. He was the all-time scoring leader for nearly three decades with 148 goals. An All-SUNY Athletic Conference selection, Walker was among the top 10 scorers in the nation in 1979 and 1980.
"We had a lot of talent and worked toward a common goal," Walker said of his Oswego State lacrosse team. "When you put those two things together, you accomplish a lot."
On his way to the ceremony, after witnessing fall foliage in full bloom outside the Binghamton area, Walker was caught up in a moment of reflection.
"I started looking back at how fortunate I was to be a student athlete and to be able to drive around to all these different campuses," he said.
Walker has coached youth lacrosse, football and baseball in Moorestown.
