SUNY Potsdam Announces Return of Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series

Dr. Robyn Hosley, Interim Dean of SUNY Potsdam's School of Education and Professional Studies, to Speak at Series on Sept. 14

POTSDAM, NY (08/31/2016)(readMedia)-- Dr. Robyn L. Hosley '77, the interim dean of SUNY Potsdam's School of Education and Professional Studies, will open the 2016-17 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series with a presentation at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Hosley's presentation, "The Crane History Project," will center on the in-depth research that she and another emeriti alumni volunteer completed on the history of The Crane School of Music. Herself an alumna and a retired professor of music education at Crane, Hosley worked with Crane faculty emeritus Dr. Scott P. LaVine '71, to create a multimedia timeline in honor of the 125th anniversary of The Crane School of Music and of the SUNY Potsdam bicentennial.

The historical timeline chronicles the development of music education and the founding of The Crane School of Music by Julia Etta Crane. The faculty portion of the project documents all of the faculty and staff members who have been associated with Crane since its inception in 1884, expanding upon research previously completed by Allen Richardson '41 and Wally Siebel '68.

The Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar is sponsored by SUNY Potsdam's School of Education and Professional Studies. Over the last eight years, the School has hosted more than 70 presenters through the series.

All seminar meetings will be offered on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m., on the balcony located in the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center. These events are free, and the public is welcome to attend.
