POTSDAM, NY (10/20/2014)(readMedia)-- The SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center will participate in Jumpstart's Read for the Record challenge tomorrow, to help set a world record for the number of people reading the same book on the same day.

The center will lead special readings of "Bunny Cakes" by Rosemary Wells on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The readings will be offered in the Merritt Hall Gymnasium. "Bunny Cakes" is an adorable story about a brother and sister rabbit creating a cake for their grandmother's birthday.

Since 2006, Jumpstart has partnered with the Pearson Foundation on a campaign that brings together millions of Americans, in an effort to break the world record for reading the same book on the same day.

The SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center is extremely proud to be participating in this celebration of literacy for the third time. This year, the center is taking its participation to new heights.

Spanish-speaking parents, as well as students from the SUNY Potsdam American Sign Language Club, have volunteered to team up with the Child Care Center to read the book in Spanish as well as sign language.

In addition, the children will enjoy a sweet treat, receive special bookmarks and see a puppet theatre show after the story has been read.
