SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center to Hold Second Annual Craft and Vendor Fair

Craft and Vendor Fair on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29, to Benefit SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center

POTSDAM, NY (11/21/2014)(readMedia)-- Start your holiday shopping and support local businesses next week, at the SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center's second annual Craft and Vendor Fair.

The fair will take place on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Norwood Municipal Building. Held in conjunction with Small Business Saturday, the fair will host several SUNY Potsdam faculty and staff members, along with other local vendors, selling their wares.

The Craft and Vendor Fair will offer something for everyone. Handcrafted jewelry, soaps and lotions, photographs, home décor, gift baskets and baked goods will be for sale. Numerous vendors will be on hand as well, including Tastefully Simple, Arbonne, It Works!, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, 31, Mary Kay and more. Crafts made by children from the Center will also be available for purchase.

"I'm really excited for this year's event," said SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center Board Chair Roberta Greene. "Last year, we only had three weeks to pull the whole thing together, and we did great! This year, we've had much more time, and I'm hoping for an even better turnout. At our first event, we raised almost $800 for the Center, and my goal for this year is to double that amount."

The fair is organized and operated by the SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center's board of directors. A $1 donation will be taken at the door to benefit the Center.

The SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center was incorporated in 1990, and operates in Merritt Hall as a daycare center to serve the College's faculty, staff and students. Although the center resides on campus, the SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center is a separate not-for-profit organization operating on campus grounds, and serves members of the community, in addition to those affiliated with the College.

Funding for the center is made possible through grants from SUNY, Family Benefits and weekly childcare fees. For more information about the SUNY Potsdam Child Care Center, visit www.potsdam.edu/faculty/spccc.
