SUNY Potsdam Faculty Bring Anti-Racism Activist Ream Kidane to Campus for Talk

Ream Kidane Speaks About Black Liberation and Socialism at SUNY Potsdam on April 22

POTSDAM, NY (04/17/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam faculty members have invited an international anti-racism activist to speak on campus next week.

Ream Kidane will speak about black liberation and socialism on Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m., in the Raymond Hall eighth floor boardroom. This talk is free, and the public is invited to attend.

Kidane is a long-time human rights and anti-racism activist, living in Rochester, N.Y. In 2009, he traveled to the Gaza Strip as part of the Viva Palestina delegation. In addition, he has been involved with campaigns to end the death penalty, police brutality and mass incarceration. He has also been involved with labor solidarity, gender equality and LGBT protests.

Faculty members Laura Fair-Schulz, from the College's Department of Art, and Axel Fair-Schulz, an associate professor of history, have invited Kidane to speak. This event is also sponsored by the campus chapter of the International Socialist Organization.
