SUNY Potsdam Celebrates Long Tradition of Welcoming Canadian Students with Alumni Event in Kemptville, Ontario

POTSDAM, NY (10/30/2015)(readMedia)-- The State University of New York at Potsdam has been educating students from Canada for nearly half of the College's 200-year history.

SUNY Potsdam will celebrate this legacy with a special Canadian Alumni Celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the North Grenville Community Centre in Kemptville, Ontario.

Admission to this event is free, and open to all SUNY Potsdam Canadian alumni. There will be free food, a cash bar and numerous raffles and prizes.

All area Canadian alumni are welcome to join fellow SUNY Potsdam graduates, meet old classmates and network with new friends. There will be a chance to reconnect with instructors and enjoy a special presentation.

Ryan LaRose will be the featured guest speaker. His talk, titled "Teaching Through the Fog," will focus on the importance of developing resiliency as a professional educator. He will show participants how to focus time and energy to harness the power of relationships, the power of community and the power of your passion.

The Canadian Alumni Celebration is sponsored by SUNY Potsdam's Center for Graduate Studies.

With convenient proximity to Ontario, SUNY Potsdam has one of the highest Canadian student enrollments of any of the 16 comprehensive SUNY colleges. In fact, more than 12 percent of graduate program alumni (since 1948) have pursued teacher certification with SUNY Potsdam.
