POTSDAM, NY (10/06/2017) (readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam will bring together alumni, students, faculty, staff and parents for the College's first-ever Day of Service -- uniting campus community members through volunteerism and Potsdam Pride, on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The inaugural Day of Service will engage volunteers across New York State and wherever alumni live, to complete a variety of community service projects and share their pride in their alma mater.

"Every year, we are gratified to hear stories of the important work that members of the SUNY Potsdam family do to support worthy causes, both here in the North Country and in communities across the globe. Through our first Day of Service, we hope that Potsdam Bears from all over can come together to give back and show the world what a difference each of us can make," President Kristin G. Esterberg said.

All campus community members are welcome to participate in the SUNY Potsdam Day of Service. To pitch in, visit www.potsdam.edu/dayofservice, and register to join a project in your area -- or coordinate a project for a favorite cause in your neck of the woods.

You can even join in by completing individual projects like helping a needy neighbor on Oct. 21. Just register to make sure that your efforts are counted.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear their SUNY Potsdam Bears gear on site and to post photos of their project on social media, using the hashtag #PotsdamProud.
