POTSDAM, NY (11/20/2014)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam will host its first-ever Home for the Holidays Open House on Monday, Dec. 22, in the College's Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center, located in Satterlee Hall.

The special holiday open house will bring together educational opportunities and application assistance, in a festive atmosphere with treats and raffle prizes. SUNY Potsdam President Kristin G. Esterberg will welcome students of all backgrounds to "come home" for their education, with a variety of opportunities available.

"The Home for the Holidays Open House really serves two unique purposes. First, we want to invite students from the North Country who are home for break to come to campus and visit with us to consider 'coming home' to complete their education at SUNY Potsdam," said Director of the Center for Graduate Studies Joshua LaFave. "We also want to invite our local community to come and experience everything Potsdam has to offer -- ranging from undergraduate to graduate degree programs, non-credit courses and special sessions like our Winterim program that can help students get ahead or try something new. Our campus has something for everyone, and we want to showcase that in the most festive way possible!"

There will be two sessions: Session 1 will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Session 2 will be offered from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Free online registration is required: Please visit potsdamholidaysevent.eventbrite.com to sign up.

Each session will include a welcome, breakout information sessions, information tables, application assistance, registration support and financial aid information.

The SUNY Potsdam Home for the Holidays Open House will feature information about:

  • Undergraduate and transfer options
  • Graduate programs and courses
  • Winterim and Summer Session courses
  • Non-credit courses

Participants are encouraged to bring their high school or college transcripts to receive instant non-degree admissions decisions, and register for Winterim or Spring 2015 courses on the spot.

The Home for the Holidays Open House is hosted by the SUNY Potsdam Office of Undergraduate Admission, the Office of Transfer Admission, the Center for Graduate Studies, the Office of Extended Education and the Center for Lifelong Education and Recreation (CLEAR).
