POTSDAM, NY (04/07/2016)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam is preparing to host its tenth annual Relay for Life, to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and celebrate the lives of cancer survivors and honor those who have been lost to the disease.

The 2016 SUNY Potsdam Relay for Life will be held from 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15, until 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, in the Maxcy Hall Fieldhouse. This year, more than 700 individuals are expected to participate in the College's birthday-themed Relay, with a goal of raising $63,000.

SUNY Potsdam's Relay for Life is a family-oriented all-night event where participants walk or run on a track, relay style. This celebration brings neighbors, friends, work associates and families together to celebrate those who have survived cancer and remember those who have not. During the event, team members "camp" out and enjoy entertainment, food, games and camaraderie in a community party atmosphere.

While this event happens on SUNY Potsdam's campus, it is open to the community, so all are invited to join in the excitement. Many students, faculty and staff from SUNY Potsdam attend, as well as local businesses, organizations, high school groups and students from neighboring colleges.
