POTSDAM, NY (04/12/2017) (readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam is thrilled to be hosting internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue Yong Hi Moon for a special performance on Monday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater. Moon will be playing Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations," considered one of Beethoven's most difficult compositions. The "Diabelli Variations" are a monumental masterpiece and rarely heard.

She will also conduct a masterclass on Tuesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater. Several students will have the opportunity to perform compositions of their choosing and receive feedback from Moon. This will provide a great opportunity for students, faculty and the general public to observe her teaching style.

SUNY Potsdam Professor Young-Ah Tak, one of the newest faculty members at the Crane School of Music, arranged for Moon's visit to the College. As a young pianist in South Korea, Tak was able to study under Moon, who became one of her most influential teachers and mentors.

These events are free, and the public is invited to attend.
