SUNY Potsdam to Welcome Nearly 700 Alumni for Reunion Weekend July 10 to 13

SUNY Potsdam Alumni Raise More Than $4 Million for 2014 Reunion, Including Record Class Gifts

POTSDAM, NY (07/03/2014)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam will welcome nearly 700 alumni and friends back to campus during the College's 2014 Reunion Weekend, from Thursday, July 10 to Sunday, July 13.

It's another milestone year for class giving, as the campus gears up for reunion celebrations. SUNY Potsdam alumni and friends have given a total of $4,137,811 in honor of 2014 class reunions, as of July 3.

Eight classes have exceeded their class giving goals this year. Most notably, the Class of 1974 has set a giving record for a 40th Reunion class gift, raising $2,104,943 as of July 3 -- far surpassing the class's initial $50,000 goal. The Class of 1994 also set a giving record among 20th Reunion classes, raising $42,709.

The following classes have also already exceeded their giving goals this year:

  • The Class of 1999, celebrating their 15th Reunion
  • The Class of 1994, celebrating their 20th Reunion
  • The Class of 1989, celebrating their 25th Reunion
  • The Class of 1979, celebrating their 35th Reunion
  • The Class of 1974, celebrating their 40th Reunion
  • The Class of 1969, celebrating their 45th Reunion
  • The Class of 1964, celebrating their 50th Reunion

The 50-Year Club, which is made up of all classes from 1964 and earlier, has made more than $1.48 million in class gifts this past year, to benefit students and programs at SUNY Potsdam. This giving includes both outright gifts and the establishment of funds through planned or estate giving.

Many alumni honor their reunion celebration by going above and beyond their typical annual giving. All gifts from each class, regardless of designation, are counted in each class's reunion total. Gifts to the College's greatest needs support a variety of vital resources and financial support for research, student travel, equipment, technology, scholarships and so much more.

Generous gifts from alumni show the great value they place on the education they received at SUNY Potsdam, and the College's important role in preparing them for success in life.

It's not too late to register for SUNY Potsdam Reunion Weekend. All SUNY Potsdam alumni and friends are invited to join in the festivities. For more information, please call Laura Stevenson at (315) 267-2120 or visit www.potsdam.edu/alumni/reunion.
