The junior from Lake Forest was also named a third team All-American.
LAKE FOREST, IL (12/07/2012)(readMedia)-- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its 2012 All-Region teams on Wednesday and Lake Forest College's Becky Esrock (Saint Louis) and Holly Lesperance were First Team selections.
Esrock, a junior, had also been announced as a Third Team All-American selection by the NSCAA on Tuesday. She made the move from forward to sweeper early in the season and the Foresters posted a 12-2-1 record with nine shutouts during the rest of the season. She scored six goals on the year, including one in the Midwest Conference Tournament final and another in the team's NCAA Tournament game. Esrock was also a First Team All-MWC selection and the league's Defensive Player of the Year.
Lesperance, a freshman forward, was second on the team with 15 goals and 36 points. She recorded at least two points in 14 of 21 contests, scored in eight of 10 conference games, and netted seven official game-winning goals. Lesperance was one of just two freshmen to earn First Team All-MWC honors and she is the only freshman on the NSCAA All-North Region First Team.
Lake Forest posted a 14-6-1 overall record in 2012 and went 8-1-1 in Midwest Conference play to claim the fourth league title in program history. The Foresters hosted and won the MWC Tournament to advance to their second NCAA Tournament.
