Sam Ramsey Named CCIW Player of the Week

Carthage College sophomore Sam Ramsey was named Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Ramsey went a perfect 4-0 across singles and doubles in two matches for the Lady Reds. Against North Park, the New Berlin, Wis. native began the match with an 8-3 win in doubles paired with Rachel Anderson, before coming out on top of a tough match in singles, 6-0, 3-6, 10-6, to clinch a 9-0 sweep for Carthage.

Against Augustana, the sophomore helped reclaim the lead for the Lady Reds with an 8-3 win in doubles to make it a 2-1 match. Ramsey put Carthage back in front once again in singles, winning her match at court three 6-2, 6-4 to set the score with the Vikings at 4-3.

This is the second conference player of the week honor for the Lady Reds this season and second in Ramsey's career, after she took home the award on April 17 as a freshman last season.
