MILTON , MA (04/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Curry College is pleased to announce that Sutton resident Samantha Valletta, daughter of Steve and Amy Valletta, will be playing the role of Lorraine in Curry Theatre's main stage performance of Bat Boy: The Musical.
Samantha is a 2010 graduate of the Holy Name Jr./Sr. Central Catholic School. Currently a freshman majoring in Communication, she has been seen on the Curry Theatre stage in last month's New Plays Festival 2011, in Mark Alexander's original piece Deathbed.
Lifted from the front pages of certain tabloids, Bat Boy the Musical recounts the story of a half-bat, half-boy found living in a remote cave in West Virginia. He is captured, and the rural townsfolk struggle to decide his fate. Beyond the absurd and hysterical premise, the show deals with serious themes such as hypocrisy and acceptance, scapegoating and forgiveness, and racism and revenge. Packed with impressive music from rock to rap to opera with a dash of horror-movie score, Bat Boy is sure to entertain and leave the audience singing, "Don't deny your beast inside."
Bat Boy: The Musical will run Saturday, April 23 through Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30 pm in the Oscar B. and Frances A. Keith Auditorium at the Academic and Performance Center on the Curry College Milton Campus, 1071 Blue Hill Avenue, Milton, MA. Tickets are $10 and may be reserved at 617-333-2259 (Option 2).
