EVANSVILLE, IN (04/25/2012)(readMedia)-- San Antonio native Emily K. Mella, a graduating senior at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana, has been selected to give the University's first-ever Senior Keynote address.

Mella will speak at the 154th Commencement on Saturday, May 5, at Evansville's Ford Center. The Senior Keynote is a new tradition established this year in place of a Commencement speaker from outside the UE community.

Mella is an archaeology, art history, and international studies major and history minor. At UE, she has been involved in student activities such as Phi Mu, Admissions Ambassadors, Phi Alpha Theta, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Gamma Mu, and the Senior Gift Committee. In 2010, she was named UE's Greek Woman of the Year, and was honored as Best Greek President in 2011 and 2012.

In Summer 2011, Mella participated in a faculty-led study abroad program in Jordan. She will return to the Middle East this summer to conduct archaeological surveying and excavations in Israel and Jordan.

In the fall, Mella will attend American University in Washington, DC, where she will pursue a Master of Arts in international affairs with a focus in the Middle East.
