San Diego Native Katrina Thoreson Earns All-SCIAC 2nd Team Honors

WHITTER, CA (06/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Whittier College senior Katrina Thoreson earned 2nd Team Honors from the Southern California Intercollegiat Athletic Conference (SCIAC) for her impressive performance during the women's water polo season.
Thoreson, who comes to Whittier College from San Diego, Calif. helped lead the Poet squad to a 6th place finish in the SCIAC standings and a 14-20, 2-8 SCIAC record.
This season she finished with 71 goals on 182 attempts to go with 24 assists, 66 drawn ejections, and 63 steals.
Capping off the season she now moves up in the top five list in single season scoring and surpasses fellow San Diego native Caroline Galvin to move into the No. 4 slot all time in Whittier College women's water polo history.
With the 71 goals scored this season she also moves into the No. 1 slot All-Time in career scoring with 249 surpassing Galvin who finished her career with 226 goals.
Thoreson was also named Outstanding Senior Athlete by Whittier College and Outstanding Graduate in the Whittier College History Department.
Katrina Thoreson graduated from Whittier College on May 11, 2012.
