San Diego's Nicci Bermudes named D3soccer.com All-American

AURORA, IL (12/27/2013)(readMedia)-- For the second time in 2013, Aurora University women's soccer team sophomore forward Nicci Bermudes (San Diego, Calif./University City H.S.) was named an All-American. This time Bermudes was named a Third-Team All-American by D3soccer.com.Earlier this winter she also was named a First-Team All-American by The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Bermudes had a tremendous 2013 season that has garnered her numerous post-season accolades, including being named CoSIDA/Capital One Third-Team Academic All-America, First-Team Academic All-District, NSCAA First-Team All-Region, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Offensive Player of the Year, and First-Team All-Conference.On the season, Bermudes had a team-leading 20 goals, with seven being game-winning goals, and 13 assists.

The AU women's soccer program captured the NACC Championship with an 11-1 regular-season record and went 2-0 in the NACC tournament to capture the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The Spartans made their 10th NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship appearance in the past 13 seasons.

On the season, the Spartans outscored their opponents 60 to 14 in 21 games. The AU women finished 2013 with an 18-3 overall record and captured their 15th conference title in the 20 seasons of the program's existence. The Spartans were ranked No. 16 in the latest D3soccer.com Top 25 poll.
